Wing Chun Kung Fu — The Legacy

Wing Chun Kung Fu is, nowadays, the most popular Kung Fu style in the world — made famous globally by Master Ip Man, the first real master of Bruce Lee, and popularized further by the Ip Man film series starring Donnie Yen.

Wing Chun is a traditional Chinese martial art and form of self-defense that originated in the southern region of China, known for its practical and efficient techniques in close-quarters combat, with strong emphasis on structure, balance, and sensitivity to one’s opponent.

Legend has it that the style was created by a Buddhist nun named Ng Mui, who synthesized her martial arts knowledge into a system suited for smaller individuals to defend themselves against larger adversaries. The art was refined by her disciple, Yim Wing Chun, after whom the style is named. Wing Chun is the core style of Bruce Lee, who followed its root-level rules and concepts when he developed his own style, Jeet Kune Do.
